Ginza story

The Ginza district, in the center of Tokyo, is of particular importance for Seiko. This is where Kintaro Hattori, the founder of the 21-year-old brand, installed his store selling and repair of clocks and watches in 1881, and it is always in this neighborhood that the seat of the 'business is implanted today.
For more than 120 years, Ginza has been hosted by a Seiko clock that overlooks its most famous crossroads from the roof of the Wako department store, where is one of the largest Seiko stores in the world. Other establishments in the brand are nearby, including the Seiko Museum, a shop dedicated to the Prospex Collection and the Seiko Dream Square, space dedicated to the discovery of the rich inheritance of each collection and the unique vision of the world Seiko.
To celebrate Seiko's 140th anniversary and its long association with Ginza, two limited editions, which capture both the classic and modern Ginza faces, are now integrated with Prospex Collections and Planning.
These two creations are home to dials whose patterns echo the traditional cobbled streets of the neighborhood, declined in a blue-gray tone that evokes the contemporary aspect and the architectural interest of the many modern buildings that define Ginza today.

Inheritance and modernity. History and progress.

These two creations capture the essential characteristics of Seiko today.
The paved pattern and the "KomParu" seconds needle add an authentic ginza accent to the watch. The Prospex limited edition is based on the modern reinterpretation of the 1959 Alpinist watch presented earlier this year. The complex structure of the dial incorporates two distinct sunny patterns that capture the texture and feel of Ginza pavers and provide evolving impressions according to the angle of view.
In tribute to the history of the neighborhood, the second hand is dressed in a traditional Japanese color "KomParu" thus named after KomParu Street, where Ginza's nightlife was formerly centered. This blue color with a soft green tone was used for the first time in the middle of the Meiji era (1868 - 1912) and instantly found the favor of the many Geishas who lived there, then gradually become a popular color with the public. .
The watch is animated by the 6R35 caliber, which offers a 70 hour power reserve. It equips with a striped resistant sapphire curved glass and offers a 20-bar tightness. It is proposed in edition limited to 3,500 copies and will be available in the Seiko store network and at authorized resellers selected in October 2021.

The contours of the pavers are printed twice to bring an impression of tridimensional to the dial.
The creation is the same dial pattern inspired by the Ginza pavers and the KOMPARU color seconds needle, but the watch adopts the elegant design of the model Planage "Style60's" recently presented and inspired by the seiko chronograph Crown of 1964. The glass Box-Shaped, Faceted indexes and needles with sharp lines are directly inherited from the Crown Chronograph and create a retro sensation that fit perfectly with the classic dial pattern. The open heart at the 9-hour position allows you to see and enjoy the exhaust beat and 24-hour counter above offers a different and useful way to read the time.
This Senage watch is proposed for edition limited to 4,000 copies and will also be available in Seiko shops and at authorized resellers selected in October 2021.
