A period of expansion
In 1911, Oris became the main employer in the region with more than 300 employees. The company encourages them to settle in Hölstein by building housing for them. Oris, continues its expansion until 1929 and already counts six factories at the end of this period: Hölstein (1904), Holderbank (1906), Como (1908), Courgenay (1916), Herbetswil (1925) and Ziefen ( 1925).

"Horloger status"
Oscar Herzog, itself watching, pursues a quality improvement policy. But his ambitions are stopped on March 12, 1934, when the Government of Switzerland adopts the particular law of "watchmaking status". It is supposed to protect and regulate the industry, it compels watchmaking companies to freeze their production and forbids them to introduce new technologies without authorization. Oris then use ankle exhaust movements (Roskopf) which are very much less accurate than anchor exhaust calibres, adopted by some competitors before the passage of the law.
