Five days of reserve
By designing the 400 caliber, Oris engineers have admitted that today, we do not wear the same shows every day. A standard mechanical watch unused for a day or two, stops as soon as its power reserve is reached. That of the 400 caliber lasts five days, your watch continues to operate, even after a long weekend. This is possible thanks to the twin barrels, which each house an elongated motor spring that can store two and a half days of energy.
Warranty and recommended maintenance interval of 10 years
The confidence of Oris in advanced cutting-edge technologies in the 400 caliber is such that we offer a 10-year warranty on all oris watches equipped with this new movement that are recorded on Myoris. In addition, ORIS recommends a 10-year maintenance interval for its 400 caliber watches. This means that, unless accidental deterioration or sealing controls, your watch can do without interview until 2030. This is the new standard.
A more stable rotor system
With the 400 caliber, one of the fundamental goals of Oris was to eliminate upstream problems. Our engineers identified that the ball bearing system that allows the rotor to rotate freedom often cause faults of automatic mechanical movements. It is one of their essential elements: by turning, the rotor generates energy that is stored in the motor spring within the barrel. We have therefore replaced the ball bearing by a low friction zipper in which a metal stud passes through a lubricated sheath. This system, much less complex and efficient, reduces the effects of wear, thus preventing the failures.
Strong resistance to magnetic fields
Most Swiss movements magnetize under the effect of the forces that punctuate our daily lives. They lose in precision and even threaten to stop. In order to give it exceptional properties, ORIS conceived the 400 caliber with more than 30 non-ferrous and antimagnetic components, including an exhaust wheel and a silicon anchor. In tests made by the Dubois laboratory, the 400 caliber drew less than 10 seconds per day after exposure to 2,250 Gauss. The ISO 764 standard requires accuracy to less than 30 s gap per day after exposure to 200 Gauss for a watch to be qualified as a magnetic. The 400 caliber recorded a third of this gap after being exposed to a force 11 times higher. It is therefore a highly antimagnetic movement.
